Recently the scientists of NASA published a research about the consequences of climate change on Earth. For such results, the weather data and satellite images since 1997 were used.
Therefore, during twenty years the Arctic became greener because of the temperature increase. In some places, so-called «biological emptiness» appeared.
There are also some satellite images by NASA that demonstrate the changes in atmosphere and on the surface of Earth.
During a short period of time glaciers melt, lakes become dry, delves soil erosion, deserts become larger. All these events change our planet.
What else will change on Earth?
As we know, NASA developed the first program that predicts possible regions of flooding because of glaciers melting. That is one more important event that can take place in the nearest future.
Roger Bilham, the geophysicist of the University of Colorado, researched a statistic of earthquakes since 1900.
Longstanding observations showed the link between Earth’s rotation and seismic activity. In fact, the earthquakes take place mostly if the rotation speed decreases because of the inner reasons.
“The correlation between Earth’s rotation and earthquake activity is strong and suggests there is going to be an increase in numbers of intense earthquakes next year,” – Bilham told.
He found five periods when there had been significantly higher numbers of large earthquakes compared with other times. “In these periods, there were between 25 to 30 intense earthquakes a year,” said Bilham. “The rest of the time the average figure was around 15 major earthquakes a year.”
This link is particularly important because Earth’s rotation began one of its periodic slowdowns more than four years ago. “The inference is clear,” said Bilham. “Next year we should see a significant increase in numbers of severe earthquakes. We have had it easy this year. So far we have only had about six severe earthquakes. We could easily have 20 a year starting in 2018.”
Besides, except all these events Earth can experience one more global extinction event. It can already begin in 2100.
To make a conclusion, Earth experienced many changes during the last century. And nowadays we feel all the consequences of climate change caused by a human. That is why mankind should reframe its attitude to nature and ecology.
